(Changed edition, Rev. N 2, 3).
4. TEST METHODS
4.1. Visual inspection of wire is carried out visually.
4.1. To determine the mechanical properties of the wire, the surface density of zinc on the wire, number of dives, the adhesion of the zinc coating to the steel core select one sample from each selected roll.
(Added, Rev. N 2).
4.2. Diameter and ovality of wire measured with a micrometer according to GOST 6507−90 in two mutually perpendicular directions of the same cross-section in at least three different areas of a coil. The final result should be the arithmetic mean results of three measurements.

4.3. Test wire tensile and the rupture with the node is carried out according to GOST 10446−80.
4.4. Test the wire on the bend is carried out according to GOST 1579−93.
4.5. Strength of adhesion of the zinc coating to the steel core is tested in accordance with the requirements of section 2.4 of this standard and GOST 10447−93.
4.6. The amount of zinc on the surface of galvanized wire determine the volume-gasometrical or by the gravimetric method, and the continuity and uniformity of zinc coating by immersion.
The weight method is used for particularly precise definition in the case of disagreements in the assessment of the quality of the wire.
Length of the wire samples to determine the mass of zinc coating three-gasometrical or the gravimetric method should be not less than 300 mm.
Samples of the wire can be cut into any number of segments depending on the test conditions.
4.6.1. Space-gasometrical method
Removing zinc coating produced in a device consisting of a reservoir and connected to it with a rubber hose, a glass burette with two taps, under total immersion of samples of wire in the solution is (18±2) °C until cessation of gas evolution.
The test is carried out in the following order:
a) take samples and measure set for test length in accordance with the requirements of section 4.6;
b) degreased wire samples in alcohol, benzene, or gasoline and wipe with a clean cloth;
C) dissolve the zinc coating, completely catching the evolved hydrogen;
g) measure the volume of evolved hydrogen gas and lead to normal conditions (pressure of 760 mm Hg.St., temperature 0 °C);
d) calculate the average mass of zinc coating (a) in grams per 1 mof the surface of the wire by the formula
,
where is the volume of hydrogen under normal conditions, cm;
— the nominal diameter of the wire specimen, mm;
— the length of the wire specimen, mm.
Bleeding zinc is produced in an aqueous solution of the mixture of acids of the composition:
sulfuric according to GOST 4204−77 — 100 g/DM;
a salt according to GOST 3118−77 — 34 g/DM
or in the inhibited solution of sulfuric acid prepared in the following manner: 2 g of SbOor AsOdissolved in 60 cmof hydrochloric acid by the GOST 3118−77 with a density of 1.19 g/cmand topped up to 1 cmof sulfuric acid according to GOST 4204−77 concentration of 80 g/DM.
250 cmbleed solution is tested up to 60 samples galvanized wire, after which the solution was replaced.
The average weight of zinc coating is calculated with a precision of
0.1 g/m.
4.6.2. Weight method
The amount of zinc on the surface of the galvanized wire by the gravimetric method is determined by dissolving the coating from the samples of wire in solutions of acid compounds listed in claim
The average weight of zinc coating weight method is determined in the following order:
a) take samples of galvanized wire, degreased in alcohol, gasoline or benzene and wipe with a clean cloth;
b) weigh the sample;
C) dissolve the zinc coating;
d) the samples are washed in distilled water, wiped with a clean cloth to remove moisture and weighed again;
d) measure the actual diameter of the specimen after etching zinc;
e) calculate the average mass of zinc coating (a) in grams per 1 mof the surface of the wire by the formula
,
where is the mass of the sample wire (Swatch group) before removing the coating, g;
the mass of the sample wire (Swatch group) after removing the coating, g;
— diameter of the wire specimen after the etching of the coating, mm.
Value and is determined with a precision of 0.001 g, the size — accurate to 0.01 mm, the average mass of zinc coating with an accuracy of 0.1 g/m
.
4.6.3. The immersion method
The continuity and uniformity of the zinc coating on the wire is controlled by immersion of the sample of galvanized wire in a solution of copper sulphate, prepared by dissolving one part by weight of dry crystal of copper sulphate according to GOST 4165−78 (h. e. a.) in five weight parts of distilled water and neutralized with an excess of freshly precipitated hydrate of copper oxide. After neutralization the solution should be filtered. The density of the filtered neutralized solution should be 1,114−1,116 g/cm.
The temperature of the solution of copper sulphate during the test must be (18±2) °C.
The test procedure shall be the following:
a) take samples of the wire length of 150 mm, degreased in alcohol, gasoline or benzene and wipe with a clean cloth. If the samples are degreased with gasoline or benzene, to produce additional rinsing them with distilled water and wipe to remove moisture;
b) immerse the samples in a solution of copper sulphate to a depth of not less than 100 mm.
The time of immersion are shown in table.3.
After each immersion in the solution samples immediately washed with distilled water and wipe with a clean cloth. The number of samples simultaneously immersed in the solution should not be more than six.
Samples of wire must be in the solution of copper sulphate in a stationary position, not in contact with each other and with the walls of the vessel. The same solution of copper sulphate with a volume of 200 cmcan be used for testing samples, the number of which depending on the wire diameter shown in table.5.
