Inconel 706 is a heat-resisting chrome-nickel alloy which was invented in the USA. This alloy corresponds a lucky combination of high impact hardness, mechanical resistance, and a good tooling quality. Characteristics of alloy Inconel 706 are identical with characteristics of Inconel 718. However, the first one is easier amenable to mechanical working. Nickel and chrome give this alloy a high oxidation resistance. During a process of heating, they form an oxide film on a surface. It increases a resistance to an aggressive environment. Titanium and niobium are the main disperse-reinforcing components of alloy. A presence of aluminium in alloy makes a positive influence on a workability. A dispersive reinforce of alloy by exposure route of thermal precipitations guarantees an improving of required delayed quench properties. As a result, it increases a resistance of welded seams to cracking.

Application
Alloy combines a good workability and a high strength. It is utilized in airspace industry, motor industry, for manufacturing drive shafts, turbine cases, alloy wheels, diffuser cases, compressor shafts, disc plates etc. Besides, this alloy is used in a manufacture of gas turbines.
Processing
This alloy has a high plasticity and it can satisfactory be taken to molding. But it is disposed to a hammer hardening. That is why it must be cut at small speeds with a special tool. Welding is possible only after previous heating details to 100−120°C with further annealing.
