UNS K93120. Technical characteristics

Maraging 300 alloy (other names Vascomax 300™, Maraging C300™) is manufactured with a help of vacuum-arc or vacuum-inductive smelting. It is a low-carbon nickel-cobalt-molybdenum alloy. Its special feature is a high flow limit at temperature not higher than 500. Alloy has a high plasticity and weldability at high level of strength. This is one of the nickel family alloys and martensite-ageing steels (in this group Maraging 250 and 350). It can work at very high tension strength in a temperature range of 450 — 490 °C.

Strength parameters

Alloy heat treatment 0.2% of flow limit Ultimate stress limit Percentage of elongation in 4D (%) Contraction ratio (%) Hardness HB
Thermohardening 1500°F 120 MPa 150 MPa 16 70 30
Annealing + age-hardening 900°F (3 hours) 280 MPa 290 MPa 8 40 50

Alloying

An alloying produces a multidimensional effect on the steels quality:

— nickel increases a plasticity and workability, simplifies a pressure shaping;
— titanium raises a strength, counter-force to attack and wipe-out;
— cobalt increases a heat-resistance, a magnetic permeability;
— molybdenum raises a red-hardness, firmness, resistance to corrosion at high temperatures;
— mangan (that is more than 1%) increases a hardness, resistance to impact load, wearing property;
— titanium raises a stability, a corrosion resistance;
— aluminium increases an oxidation resistance;
— nickel gives not only a plasticity but increases a heat-resistance as well.
Extra-qualitative steel contains borium, zirconium, selenium, nitrogen except for above-said components.
