Relevance
Grade 03X22H6M2 refers to chromium-nickel-molybdenum steels of austenite-ferrite class. It is used in the production of welded vessels involved in the synthesis of mineral fertilizers, acetic and sulfuric acid, caprolactam and urea. Permissible operating temperature ranges from -70 to +300°С. This steel as well as 08X21H6M2T (EP54) are alternatives to 10X17H13M2T alloy.

Production
It is produced in accordance with Technical Specifications TU 14-1-1905-76 and the following GOSTs: 7350-77 and 5632-72. Steel 03Х22Н6М2 is melted in electric arc furnaces. It is classified as stainless, corrosion-resistant, common, heat-resistant and heat-resistant steel. It fully complies with the strict requirements of the state standard and is quite easily machined by cutting. Plastic deformation is carried out in the temperature range from 1170 °C, to 900 °C.

Welding
It is carried out both by automatic and electric arc manual and argon-arc method. The sheet of thickness not more than 10 mm is welded by all methods of electric-arc manual welding satisfactorily. Argon-arc method is recommended for sheets less than 6 mm thick and for welding root seams over 10 mm. Larger items are welded satisfactorily by both types of manual arc welding when the content of niobium in the metal of the root passages of the weld is low. In order to prevent hot cracks in welds over 10 mm, the root pass joints should be welded back-to-back using niobium-free welding components. For sheets over 12 mm thick, a combined method (argon arc welding and welding with piece electrodes) is used. Seams facing the corrosive environment are welded last with OZL-17U electrodes.
Use
The manufacture of chemical welded equipment, heat exchangers, chemical reactors, pipelines. Also steel is used in the manufacture of castings for vessels, parts of metallurgical mining and chemical equipment, which are exploited in wet-process phosphoric acid, 55% sulfuric acid and acetic acid and similar corrosive environments, up to a temperature of 80 ° C.
Steel 03X22H6M2 is used in equipment intended for the production of mineral fertilizers.
