3 Technical requirements
3.1 Main indicators and characteristics
3.1.1 Foil, sheets and plates are made from niobium ingots in accordance with the requirements of this standard and the additional set of documents 78.02000.00004 [1].
3.1.2 The chemical composition of foil, sheets and plates must correspond to the chemical composition of ingots manufactured according to GOST 16099 [2].
The niobium content is actual and is defined as the difference between 100% and the sum of the mass fractions of regulated impurities.
Foil is additionally checked for oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon content. The content of these impurities must comply with the standards specified in Table 1.
Table 1 - Mass fractions of gas impurities
Name of the controlled impurity | Mass fraction of impurities, %, not more than
Foil thickness, mm | |||
from 0.01 to 0.05 incl. | St. 0.05 to 0.10 incl. | St. 0.10 to 0.20 incl.
Oxygen | 0.06 | 0.04 | 0.02 |
Hydrogen | 0.025 | 0,015 | 0.0015 |
Nitrogen | 0.02 | 0,015 | 0.01 |
Carbon | 0.025 | 0,018 | 0,015 |
Note - By agreement with the consumer, control of the content of gas impurities in finished products may not be carried out, or the values of mass fractions may differ from those given in the table. |
3.1.3 The geometric dimensions of the foil, sheets and plates and the maximum deviations for them must correspond to those specified in Table 2.
3.1.4 Foil, sheets and plates are supplied with cleaned surfaces. The presence of visible traces of residual grease, oils and other foreign materials is not allowed.
The plates are usually supplied with an untreated surface. Plates with a mechanically treated surface are supplied upon customer request.
The surface of foil, sheets and plates must not contain any cracks, folds, creases, delamination or through holes.
Minor scratches, marks, cavities, roller marks and pinholes caused by the production method are allowed if their depth does not take the product beyond the maximum thickness deviations after their control cleaning.
It is permissible to eliminate surface defects of sheets and plates on the finished size by etching or mechanical processing, if the geometric dimensions remain within the tolerance field.
For foil widths of 120 mm or more and sheet widths of 150 mm or more, there are no requirements for surface quality.
On the surface of foil 3 m or longer, folds, folds, cracks and through holes are not allowed. In other respects, the surface quality is actual.
A slight waviness is allowed on the surface of the foil, which disappears when the foil is wound onto a cylinder with a diameter of 50 mm.
ST AO-41-2019
3.1.5 The edges of the foil and sheets must be cut evenly; wavy or torn edges are not allowed.
The edges and ends of the plates are milled.
The crescent shape of foil and sheets over a length of 320 mm should not exceed 2 mm.
The warpage of sheets with a thickness of 0.2 to 0.5 mm inclusive should not exceed 3 mm per 300 mm of length.
3.1.6 Products are supplied in unannealed condition. Supply in annealed condition is made by agreement of the parties.

Notes 1 By agreement between the manufacturer and the consumer, foil and sheets can be manufactured with geometric dimensions that differ from those given in the table, while the maximum deviations (if not specified by the consumer) in length are +5 mm, and in width: - for sheets: +1 mm, for width less than 50 mm; +5 mm, for width over 150 mm; - for foil: +1 mm, for width less than 30 mm; +2 mm, for width over 120 mm. 2 Length tolerance value for plates of length: - no more than 500 mm incl. - 2 mm; - over 500 mm - 3 mm. |

- name of product;
- batch number;
- dimensions (thickness, width, length);
- condition of the material;
- net weight;
- date of acceptance by the quality control department;
- quality control stamp.
Note - The batch number is formed from the serial number assigned to each nominal thickness of the product and, separated by a fraction, the batch number of the ingot from which this batch of products is manufactured.
3.3.3 Transport marking according to GOST 14192 with additional indication:
- product names;
