General characteristics
Alloy of grade 5 is alloyed with 6% of Al + 4,5% of V. Alloy of grade 5Eli is alloyed with 5% of Al + 4% of V. Aluminium can reinforce α + β phase, vanadium contributes to stabilization of β-phase and hinders a formation of alpha-2 superstructure in α-phase. Titanium of such grades relates to a group of α + β-alloys. They are made according to GOST19 807−74, IS 90 013−81. Age-hardening and thermohardening increase a strength level on 15 — 20% keeping a relatively high ductility at that. It is an option of casting alloy VT6L.

Heat treatment
These titanium grades are used in heat-hardened and annealed condition. Annealed alloy contains up to 10% of β-phase in its composition. Presence of aluminium conduces to hardening of α and β-phases. Age-hardening and thermohardening increase a strength level on 15 — 20% keeping a relatively high ductility at that. Grade 5 is high-workable at pressure treatment. Grade 5 contains a lower percentage of impurities. It is used at cryogenic temperatures up to -196°C.
