Technical characteristics
Steel of grade HN38WT is a heat-resistant high-alloyed carbon steel. It consists of nickel (34−38%), iron (38−47%), chrome (-14−16%). Titanium (1,1−1,5%), copper (<0.25%), phosphorus (<0.03%), mangan (1-2%), wolframium (2,3-3,5%), molybdenum (<0,3%), sulfur (0,02%) should be added to charge mixture in the capacity of masteralloys. HN38WT grade relates to a category of constructional steels that serve as a basis of manufacturing the various units. It can also be a basis for details of different building constructions that work in aggressive conditions. This alloy is hardly weldable. It is necessary to do a previous heating to 200-300°С with an annealing (a final heat treatment) to increase reliability of seams.
Manufacture
High-alloyed steel of an actual grade smelts in a vacuum arc furnace. This steel differs with hardness, good wearing quality, corrosive resistance. It is relatively not very expensive. It is widely used as a bearing material.

Aiming to increase a hardness and wearing quality, an alloy must be carburized. At the beginning jumping-up temperature of goods is 1170 °C; in the end a temperature is 850 °C. Finished bar sections in the forms of wire, rod or bar are cooled in air.

Application
It is used in products of high-temperature installations that are exploited in mechanical engineering, petrochemical industry. Semi-fabricates of grade HN38WT are indispensable in manufacture of disks, flat springs, fasteners that can work long-term at temperatures of <650°. Operational use of products is limited with a maximum temperature of 850°C. If a temperature is higher, there appears an active oxide scale formation. Rod is used in metallurgic, chemical, textile industries. Wire is used when welding a steel. Bar is in request when building a structural constructions. Inescapable heat treatment of seams gives more reliable construction joints. Bar, wire, rod can be used in building of small objects, in decoration, in interior finishing. Grids and various protections can be made of a wire.
