Technical characteristics of cupronickel

Cupronickel relates to a group of copper-nickel alloys. Two types of metal relate to this group of European alloys: Cu19Ni and CuNi30Fe1Mn1. They are alloyed with ferrum and manganese. Semi-fabricates that can be manufactured of these European alloys: pipe, rod, wire, sheet.

CuNi30Fe1Mn1 is copper-nickel alloy, GOST 492- — 2006. Chemical composition of cupronickel CuNi30Fe1Mn1 in percentage: Ni+Co (29−33%), Fe (0.5−1%), C (up to 0.05%), Si (up to 0.15%), Mn (0.5−1%), S (up to 0.01%), P (up to 0.01%), Cu (64.4−70%), Pb (up to 0.05%), Zn (0.5%), other elements (0,6%). Cu is a basis of this metal.

This alloy is used in instrument engineering, consumers' sector for manufacture of condenser tubes, lub oil cooler, parts of conditioners. This metal has good workability, resistance to corrosion and erosion. It can be easily exposed to welding.

Casting-processing properties of CuNi30Fe1Mn1

1) Melting point of alloy is +1230 °C;

2) Hot working is done at a temperature of 860 — 950 °C.

3) Annealing is done at a temperature of 750 — 810 °C.

Mechanical properties of CuNi30Fe1Mn1

Hardness: metal is hard HB 10 -1 = 98 MPa.

Cupronickel Cu19Ni

This is copper-nickel alloy (GOST — 492- 2006). It is used for manufacturing cladding elements of medical instruments and details of high-accurate equipment. This alloy is baldy exposed to deformation in cold condition. It is characterized by good weldability and high corrosive resistance.

Casting-processing properties of Cu19Ni

1) Melting point of metal is +1190 °C;

2) Temperature of hot working is 900 — 1030 °C

3) Annealing temperature of material is 600 — 780 °C.

Mechanical properties

Hardness: soft metal HB 10 -1 = 69 MPa.

Hardness: hard metal HB 10 -1 = 117 MPa.
