General characteristics

Properties
Qualities of HN58 W grade change depending on an operating temperature. At 20 °C, density is 8,1 g/cm³, specific electric resistance is 1,18 Ohm-mm2/m, specific heat is 375 J/(kg-K). Heat conduction coefficient is about 0,126 10² V/(m К). This steel has a good weldability due to balanced chemical composition. It allows making constructions without using complex processing equipment and without heat treatment after welding.
Manufacture
HN58 W pipes are classified by a diameter and by a thickness of walls. Very thin-walled pipes have Ø of 5−250 mm and wall thickness of 0,3 — 6 mm. Thick-walled pipes have Ø of 5−250 mm at thickness of 0,6 — 20 mm. Thin-walled pipes have Ø of 0,6 — 25 cm at thickness of 0,16 — 2,4 cm. Very thick-walled pipes have Ø of 0,6 — 7,0 cm, and thickness of walls 0,2 — 1,2 cm. Thermohardening performs at a temperature of 1000 — 1100ºС with further cooling in water or in air for increase of structural requirements. It conduces to normalization of inherent stress in a material and to increasing of strength characteristics of details.
Application
Welding constructions, assembly modules, details made of HN85 W steel are intended for long-term exploitation in chemical, oil-, gas-processing industry, and energetics at a temperature of <850ºС. This steel is used in manufacture of heat exchangers, special tanks, pipe-arrangements of different cross-sections.
