Technical characteristics
Copper titanium is an alloy that relates to European bronze mill-products. This European alloy is used in cases which require high strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, good conductivity. Tensile strength rupture limit is more than 1380 MPa (200 KSI). Nowadays, Cu-Ti has got a great popularity as an alloy of ultra-high strength. These alloys can replace conventional Cu-Be alloys in such applications such as current-carrying springs and connectors. Such a departure from Cu-Be alloys is caused by a recognition of serious risks for health associated with a toxicity of Be in metallurgical manufacture. Since the 1930s, it has been found out that mechanical and physical properties are comparable to a widely used copper-beryllium (Cu-Be) alloys with better strength at high temperatures. Electrical conductivity of alloys, however, is somewhat lower than in Cu-beryllium alloys.

Application
These semi-fabricates are made of titanium copper: rod, pipe, wire. Due to titanium presence, wire made of titanium bronze differs with strength, chemical inertness, resistance to aggressive environmental influences. Sheet is characterized by a particular strength. It has excellent consumer properties, resistance to high temperature, aggressive effect of salts. Besides, titanium bronze is used for:
- Die-castings;
- Bushings for air-planes and rockets;
- Consumable instrumentation of oil and gas wells;
- Manufacture of moving mechanism parts of heavy mining equipment.
