Hardening
A heat-treated version of rolled steel is produced. Excellent ductility is obtained after annealing, and considerable self-strengthening occurs after aging. Annealing. The alloy is heated to t° 500°C. When cooled, it acquires the flexibility similar to pure aluminum. After the aging process, hardness and toughness become the leading properties. To accomplish natural aging, approximately 24 hours and a working t° of 20 degrees Celsius are required. Artificial aging requires a higher temperature, but much less time. Upon completion of the treatment technology, AMG3H becomes a sufficiently strong and reliable material that can be used under high loads. It should be noted that natural aging after deformation reduces the strength limit compared to the strength of those parts that have aging after the necessary deformation. The sheet or plate of AMG3H is necessarily coated with a protective layer to improve corrosion resistance. Anodizing is another way to improve the characteristics of the semi-finished product.
