Pipe made of alloy 36N
Technical characteristics
Ni36 invar is a type of precision alloys. It has a defined LCTE and contains in its composition a basis of iron (63−64,5%) and nickel (35−37%). Ni36 Invar alloy has a small linear coefficient of thermal expansion (- 1,5x10−6 1/°С temperature is -80 + 100°C). It defines its usage in manufacturing details of checking and measuring instruments. Sch tools work at marginal climatic temperature gradients, keeping a fixed dimension at this temperature range. It is alloyed with silicon, cuprum, mangan, aluminium, molybdenum, vanadium. Ni36 is obtained by a method of vacuum induction melting. This steel is often used with an effective layer of other alloys (20NG, 75GND, 19NH, 24NH). As a result, there appear thermostatic bimetals of different grades.
Modern metallurgic industry manufactures the following mill products out of alloy Ni36:
hot-rolled plate;
hot-rolled rod;
cold-rolled strip;
seamless tubu;
beaten rod etc.

Welding:
Type |
Description |
limitedly weldable |
— welding is possible at heating to 100−120°С and last heat treating |
hardly weldable |
— in order to obtain a qualitative welded joints, it is necessary to perform the following operations: while welding to heat it up to 200−300°C, heat treating (annealing) after welding. |
weldable without stint |
— welding is done without further heat treating or previous heating. |
