General characteristics
European titanium alloy Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo (Ti 6−2-4−6) belongs to two-phase type (a + b) titanium alloys. This alloy is widely used in aerospace and marine industry due to its high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion resistance. Titanium alloy Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo contains 6% of molybdenum, 4% of zirconium. This provides high thermal hardening effect. A presence of silicon increases creep resistance. Manufacture
Presence of aluminium promotes increasing of strength and heat resistance of alloy. Additives of molybdenum and vanadium stabilize small amount of β-phase.

Ti 6−2-4−6 alloy has high module of elasticity at tension. It possesses good weldability, excellent resistance to creep at operating temperatures of up to 450 °C.
Impact hardness
Impact hardness is optimum in a temperature range of 200−300°C. The other mechanical properties are not changed notably. If temperature raises higher than 500 °C, impact hardness greatly reduces. It is caused by redistribution of oxygen and nitrogen between grain boundaries. It leads to loss of mechanical properties.
Application
It is used in details of gas-turbine engine (compressor disks, blades, impellers), seals, parts of an airframe. Potential spheres of application include shafts and casings of equipment for oil and gas wells, including underwater wells.
