Production
Duraluminous hexagon is made from aluminum with additions of copper, manganese, plus a small amount of magnesium. This alloy is as light as aluminum, but at the same time hard enough and ductile. To make the alloy acquire the necessary physical and technical properties, it is heated to 500 - 600 degrees, and then subjected to a sharp cooling. The alloy is then left to stand at room temperature for several days, which makes it much harder. It is used to manufacture a range of fasteners.
Range
Hexagon is usually made of grades D1, D18, D16, D19, B65, BAD. It is a solid profile - a cross-sectional polygon with six faces. Produced by deformation, (cold pressing) or the method of hot rolling. By type of treatment it may be soft - made by annealing, hardened and artificially aged to give additional strength. They are produced with normal, increased or high precision.
