This standard applies to parts, products, semi-finished products and billets of non-ferrous metals and alloys, and establishes the requirements for applying the designation marks of the material from which they are made, to simplify the sorting process of end-of-life parts and products or defective parts, products, semi-finished products and billets of non-ferrous metals and alloys according to GOST 1639 and further technological processing.

This standard does not apply to parts, products, semi-finished products and billets of non-ferrous metals and alloys:

small size (diameter less than 20 mm, weight less than 300 g);

a wire and a grid;

made of lead-antimony alloys (battery grids, typographic font);

from the non-working surface, difficult to apply and read the designation marks;

with a working surface, indication marks which preclude the use of parts and products by purpose;

mass production of metal or alloy of one brand on the list, agreed with the Ministry of metallurgy of the USSR.

1. Marking stamps applied to:

finished parts and products from nonferrous metals and alloys, regardless of their method of manufacture;

semi-finished products and blanks, as well as all parts of large-sized products (if cutting according to the requirements of GOST 1639);

parts and products with a decorative coating and bimetals.

2. Marking stamps metal or alloy is applied in accordance with normative-technical documentation regulating its chemical composition.

With a large number of indices marking stamps metal or alloy used symbols are given in table.1−5.

For parts and products with a decorative coating designation of the brand applied in the form of a fraction, the numerator of which lead to the designation of the brand of the base metal (alloy), and the denominator of marking marks metals (alloys) coatings, in the order in which these metals (alloys) is applied to the base metal (alloy), separated by a hyphen (-).

On parts and products made of bimetals cause the designation of the brand of the base metal (alloy) and a hyphen symbol stamps cladding layer.

3. Symbol stamps applied to the surface of parts, products, semifinished products, and blanks with letters and numbers in accordance with paragraph 2. Sizes of letters and numbers, as well as where and how their application should be indicated on drawings of parts and products. The method of application must ensure a clear visibility and the safety to the end-of-life parts and products.

4. Allowed on parts, products, semi-finished products and blanks made from alloys not covered by this standard, to apply the designation grade alloy, similar in chemical composition and specified in this standard.

An exemplary application is a brief notation marks for parts, products, semi-finished products and billets of non-ferrous metals and alloys is given in the Appendix.
