Preface
The objectives and principles of standardization in the Russian Federation established by the Federal law of 27 December 2002 N 184-FZ «On technical regulation», and rules for the application of national standards of the Russian Federation — GOST R 1.0−2004 «Standardization in the Russian Federation. The main provisions"
Data on standard
1 DEVELOPED AND SUBMITTED by the Technical Committee on standardization TC 304 «Noble metals, alloys, industrial and jewelry products made of them; secondary resources containing noble metals», Ekaterinburg factory on processing of nonferrous metals
2 APPROVED AND put INTO EFFECT by the Federal Agency for technical regulation and Metrology dated December 25, 2008 N 660-St
3 this standard is modified in relation to the international standard ISO 10713:1992 «Jewelry. Coating alloys based on gold» (ISO 10713:1992 «Jewellery — Gold alloy coatings»). Additional words, phrases, indicators, their values are included in the text of the standard to reflect the needs of the national economy of the Russian Federation and/or the peculiarities of the Russian national standardization in italics.
In the introduction to this standard provides an explanation of the main changes made to the text
4 INTRODUCED FOR THE FIRST TIME
Information about the changes to this standard is published in the annually issued reference index «National standards», and the text changes and amendments — in monthly indexes published information «National standards». In case of revision (replacement) or cancellation of this standard a notification will be published in a monthly information index «National standards». Relevant information, notification and lyrics are also posted in the information system of General use — on the official website of the Federal Agency for technical regulation and Metrology on the Internet
Introduction
In the text of this standard the following changes were made compared to the applied international standard:
— introduced additional sections: «Terms and definitions», «requirements»;
— the labeling requirements for products with coatings of alloys based on gold recorded documents operating in the Russian Federation;
— the standard includes references to methods of measurement of coating thickness adopted in the Russian Federation;
— excluded from the standard links and descriptions of methods of measurement of thickness of coatings, not regulated by national standards of the Russian Federation.
1 Scope
This standard establishes the requirements for coating thickness and the fineness of the gold coating. The standard also defines the terms currently used concerning coatings of alloys based on gold.
The standard does not apply to watch bracelets attached to the watch case.
2 Normative references
This standard uses the regulatory references to the following standards:
GOST 9.302−88 uniform system of protection from corrosion and ageing. Coating of metallic and non-metallic inorganic. Control methods
GOST 9.306−85 unified system of protection from corrosion and ageing. Coating of metallic and non-metallic inorganic. Designation
GOST 27973.0−88 Gold. General requirements for methods of analysis
Note — When using this standard appropriate to test the effect of reference standards in the information system of General use — on the official website of the Federal Agency for technical regulation and Metrology on the Internet or published annually by the information sign «National standards» published as on January 1 of the current year and related information published monthly indexes published in the current year. If the reference standard is replaced (changed), when using this standard should be guided by replacing (amended) standard. If the reference standard is cancelled without replacement, then the situation in which the given link applies to the extent that does not affect this link.
3 Terms and definitions

* Name of item 3 in the original paper are shown in italics. — Note the manufacturer’s database.
This standard applies the following terms with respective definitions:
3.1 the gold sheet (rolled) (rolled gold): Coating alloys based on gold with a minimum thickness of 0.5 microns, applied in a mechanical way.
3.2 planirovanie gold (plated gold): Coating alloys based on gold with a minimum thickness of 0.5 microns, caused by any other (except mechanical) way.
3.3 gold plated (gilt): Coating alloys based on gold with a thickness of less than 0.5 microns, caused by any other (except mechanical) way.
3.4 alloy (fineness): the Minimum content of precious metal measured in parts per thousand by weight of alloy.
4 Technical requirements

* Name of item 4 in the original paper are shown in italics. — Note the manufacturer’s database.
4.1 Requirements for coating thickness
Coating thickness alloys based on gold, depending on the type and the category must comply with the requirements given in table 1.
Table 1 — Requirements for coating thickness alloys based on gold
Kind of coverage | Category coating thickness | Coating thickness, µm, not less | Sample, not less | |
Pure gold* | Alloy based on gold |
|||
Gold leaf (rental) |
And | - | 5 | 375 |
In | - | 3 | ||
With | 0,5 | - | * | |
Gold planirovanie |
And | - | 5 | 585 |
In | - | 3 | ||
With | 0,5 | - | * | |
Gold plated |
- | Less than 0.5 | - | 585 |
* The quality of the coating is determined by the pure gold, even if the coating is made of an alloy based on gold. The actual thickness of the coating of a gold alloy corresponding to the thickness of 0.5 microns of pure gold, will vary depending on the samples of the alloy in the following way: the thickness of gold alloy of 375 samples — 2.3 µm; the thickness of gold alloy 585 — 1.2 microns; the thickness of the coating alloy of gold 750 — 0,835 microns; the thickness of the alloy plating of gold of 999 tests of 0,5 microns. Note — Requirements for coating thickness can be determined by the gold alloy in the coating. In this case, to determine compliance with the requirements of this table, the coating thickness is calculated by the weight of gold in the coating (sample), surface area and density of pure gold. |
4.2 Marking
4.2.1 Basic requirements for the marking of products with coatings of alloys based on gold needs to match [1].
4.2.2 Coating alloys based on gold indicate by GOST 9.306.
4.2.3 depending on the method for coating is allowed to mark the products as follows:
L — for coatings deposited by mechanical means;
R — coating, applied in any other way.
You can add a category that indicates the thickness of the coating that corresponds to the letter shown in table 1.
Example — p. In — coating of minimum thickness of 3 microns, deposited by electroplating with the gold alloy of not less than 585.
4.2.4 allowed no marking on the content of pure gold or alloy in the coating.
4.2.5 it is Not allowed to put the stamp or sign on gold-plated products.
5 control Methods
_________________
* Name of item 5 in the original paper are shown in italics. — Note the manufacturer’s database.
5.1 Measurement of coating thickness does not refer to any specific part of the product and to the total amount of pure gold needed to obtain desired thickness over the entire surface area of the coating.
5.2 arbitration In order to determine the coating thickness using the method of dissolution and chemical analysis according to GOST 27973.0. The average coating thickness calculated from the pure gold content, the density of pure gold and surface area.
5.3 by agreement between the manufacturer and the customer to control the coating thickness using nondestructive methods according to GOST 9.302.
Note — These methods can determine only the local thickness, therefore, the number and location of measurement points shall be agreed with the consumer.
5.4 Can be applied to other methods if the methods are similar or better than the methods described in this standard.
