* On the territory of the Russian Federation GOST R 8.563−96.
5. Limitation of actions taken on the Protocol, the Interstate Council for standardization, Metrology and certification (ICS 2−93)
6. REPRINT (February 1998) with Amendments No. 1, 2, 3, approved in January 1983, March 1987-June 1996 (IUS 5−83, 6−87, 9−96)
1. This standard establishes General requirements for methods of analysis of thallium (if the mass fraction of thallium 99,98-of 99.9995%).
2. General requirements for methods of analysis of thallium brands TL1 and TL0 — GOST 25086, brands Tl00, Tl000 — GOST 22306 with the additions specified in this standard.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 3).
3. The analysis of thallium with a mass fraction of thallium 99,98−99,99% is used bidistillated water and reagents qualification not lower than H. h., with a mass fraction of 99.999-of 99.9995% — bidistillated water and high purity reagents brand. In the absence of the latter allowed to use the reagent H. h. after additional purification from impurities determined. All reagents for the determination of silver must be checked for absence of chlorine.
4. When determining the mass fraction of impurities in thallium (with a mass fraction of thallium 99,98−99,99%) is allowed to apply a heat-resistant bowl, in the analysis of thallium (with a mass fraction of thallium 99,999-of 99.9995%) should apply utensils made of quartz glass or fluoroplastic — 4.
5. Determination of impurities in thallium is produced in two parallel batches with simultaneous carrying out two control experiments to make the results of the analysis of the relevant amendment for contamination of reagents.
6−9. (Deleted, Rev. N 3).
10. For the results analysis be the arithmetic mean of results of two parallel measurements.
The absolute values of the differences between the results of two parallel measurements (rate of convergence) and the results of the two tests (index of reproducibility) with confidence probability of 0.95 should not exceed the values permitted discrepancies listed in the relevant tables of standards.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 3).
11. Safety requirements.
(Added, Rev. N 1).
11.1. Aerosols of thallium and its compounds are highly toxic and are substances of the I class of danger. Maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of thallium (iodide, bromide) in the air of working zone 0.01 mg/m. Thallium and its compounds can enter the human body through respiratory organs, gastrointestinal tract and intact skin. Thallium and its compounds are striking in the Central and peripheral nervous system, gastrointestinal tract and kidneys.
11.2. In the analysis of thallium using the following reagents, with harmful effects on the human body: mercury, lead, cadmium, bromine, carbon tetrachloride, hydrazine dihydrochloride, barium chloride, salts of beryllium, dialogically ether, isobutylketone, hydrochloric, nitric, sulfuric, bromatologia, perchloric and acetic acid. When you work with them it is necessary to observe the basic rules of safe work in a chemical laboratory*.

11.3. A sample of the metal thallium must be received at the analysis in armored plastic packaging with a label and stored in a plastic tray in a closed metal Cabinet. At the end of the analysis of the remains, samples of thallium are returned to the manufacturer.
(Added, Rev. N 1).
11.4. Chemicals must be stored in specially designated for each of the cabinets are equipped with ventilation, in closed containers, jars or other vessels. Each package of reagent must be label with the exact name of the substance and its characteristics. Poisonous substances must be stored in accordance with the provisional rules of storage of highly toxic substances.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 3).
11.5. When working with thallium, compounds and other chemical reagents necessary to observe security requirements outlined in the normative-technical documentation on their production and application.
11.5.1. All operations of grinding and weighing of the metal thallium must be conducted in boxes or cupboards with ventilation.
11.5.2. Used solutions and extractants thallium should be drained into separate collections.
11.5.3. Laboratory facilities in which to conduct analysis of samples of metallic thallium, belong to the category of industries with flammable fluids, and fire safety requirements they need to meet the requirements of GOST
11.6. Room chemical laboratory, its lighting, heating, water supply and Sewerage system must comply with the SN 245−71 and SNiP II-4−79**. Ventilation must comply with GOST

11.7. In the analysis of thallium chemical laboratory should be provided with special premises and devices according to SNiP 2.09.04−87.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 3).
11.8. Not allowed to take write, store food, smoke in the room where the work is being carried out with thallium.
(Added, Rev. N 1).
11.9. All electrical installations and electrical equipment used in the tests shall meet the requirements of the rules for electrical installations approved by Glavgosenergonadzora, and GOST
Conditions electrical safety in workplaces must comply with GOST 12.1.019, rules of technical operation of installations of consumers and safety at operation of electroinstallations of consumers, approved by the Glavgosenergonadzora. All used devices must pass state tests in accordance with GOST 8.001*.

In a separating funnel with a capacity of 500 cmis placed not more than 250 cmdihloretilaminovogo extract, 100 CC5% sodium hydroxide solution, are added 1 g of sodium semitecolo and moderately shaken for 2 min. the Aqueous layer was separated in a beaker with a capacity of 600 cm, neutralized with 10% solution of sulfuric acid to slightly acid reaction, poured a 5% solution of potassium permanganate up to its crimson colouring, add (per 1 g of thallium) 20 cm10%strength solution of manganese sulfate and heated to 70−80 °C. Then pour 1 cm of5% sodium hydroxide solution and continue to heat for 1 h. the Precipitate of hydroxides of manganese and thallium filtered on a paper filter (not washed). Similarly, thallium is isolated from the ammonium-ammonia solutions. For disposal of thallium from acidic solutions poured the above quantity of sulphate of manganese, neutralized by 5% alkali solution until slightly acid reaction, add a few drops of bromine until the yellow color 1cm5% sodium hydroxide solution and heated for 1 h. Next do as stated above. Filter the precipitate of hydroxides of thallium and manganese, placed in a plastic bag and sent to the manufacturer for recycling.
