6. REPRINT (March 1999) with amendment No. 1, approved in June 1988 (IUS 10−88)
This standard sets the coulometric method for the determination of gold in gold-platinum alloys (in mass fraction of gold from 89.6 99.9%).
The method is based on the coulometric titration of gold elektrogeneratory iron with use of the automatic potentiometer. The electrode pair is formed by a platinum electrode and a tungsten electrode.
1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1.1. General requirements for method of analysis according to GOST 22864.
1.2. The numerical value of the result of the analysis must end with a digit of the same rank as that of the normalized indicator grade composition.
(Added, Rev. N 1).
2. APPARATUS, REAGENTS AND SOLUTIONS
pH-meter-millivoltmeter.
The potentiostat P-5827м.
Automatic potentiometer KSP-4.
Magnetic stirrer.
Electric cell: the generator and the auxiliary electrode a platinum wire of 2 mm diameter in the form of a flat spiral, with an area of 30 cm.
Indicator system:
flat platinum electrode EPL-0,2;
the reference electrode is a tungsten wire with a diameter of 3 mm.
Stopwatch on the other 25−1819.0021 TU 25−1894.003.
Orthophosphoric acid according to GOST 6552.
Sulfuric acid according to GOST 4204.
Hydrochloric acid according to GOST 3118 and diluted 1:1.
Nitric acid according to GOST 4461.
Mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acids in a ratio of 1:3.
Alum salesonline on the other 6−09−5359, 0.5 M solution of 141 g of alum is dissolved in 500 cmof water, poured 105 cmof sulfuric acid and 250 cm.of phosphoric acid, stirred and filtered into a measuring flask with volume capacity of 1000 cm. The solution was topped to the mark with water and mix.
3. PREPARATION FOR ASSAY
3.1. A sample of alloy weighing 0.1 g was dissolved with heating in 10 cmof a mixture of acids. The solution was transferred to hydrochloric acid by evaporation twice with 10 cmof hydrochloric acid (1:1), pour 50 cmof water and 40 cmof 0.5 M solution gentoomaniac alum.
4. ANALYSIS
4.1. Prepared for analysis hydrochloric acid solution of alloy transferred into the cell lid with fixed electrodes. The cell solution is placed on the magnetic stirrer.
Included in the network power potentiostat, a potentiometer, pH meter, stirrer, and heated them to a working condition.
The switches on the blocks of the potentiostat set in the following provisions:
the initial voltage of the block BZN-1;
divider MA1 unit BVK — 1:1 «on»;
multiplier current unit PCU — 100 mA/V, which corresponds to a current of 100 mA at the output of the potentiostat;
the scale of the instrument BVV-1 — 0,5;
switch «+" «0» — «— 0;
switch , .
Tape drive mechanism includes a potentiometer for speed 720 mm/h and a voltage switch unit BVV-1 transferred to the «+". Then a short circuit of the electrode switch unit of the BPU in the position of the «cell on» and at the same time include a stopwatch. The stopwatch is turned off when the minimum value of the potential corresponding to the equivalence point on the titration curve.

5. PROCESSING OF THE RESULTS
5.1. Mass fraction (gold) in percent is calculated by the formula
,
where 0, 067121 is the amount of gold released within 1 s at a current of 100 mA, mg;
the time of titration, C;
— the weight of the portion of the alloy mg.
5.2. Allowable absolute discrepancies in the results of parallel measurements (the rate of convergence) at a confidence probability of 0.95, should not exceed 0.20%.
Absolute differences average results of determinations obtained in two different laboratories (a measure of reproducibility) shall not exceed 0.30 percent.
5.1, 5.2. (Changed edition, Rev. N 1).
5.3. Control of the correctness of the results of determining the mass fraction of gold is playing its mass fraction in the artificial mixtures the chemical composition close to the composition of the analyzed alloy, drawn through the entire course of the analysis.
The sample analysis results are considered correct if the absolute difference between the maximum and minimum values of the mass fraction of gold in an artificial mixture does not exceed 0,17%.
