5 this standard takes into account the basic regulatory provisions of the following standards:
— API RP 5B1 «Calibration and thread inspection of casing, tubing and line pipe» («Gauging and Inspection of Casing, Tubing, and Line Pipe Threads», NEQ) to the terms of the imperfections of the surface and visual inspection of the surface quality of threaded connections;
— API Std 5T1 «Standard terminology of imperfections» («Standard on Imperfection Terminology», NEQ) to the terms of the imperfections of the surface of threaded connections
6 INTRODUCED FOR THE FIRST TIME
Information about the changes to this standard is published in the annual reference index «National standards», and the text changes and amendments — inmonthly information index «National standards». In case of revision (replacement) or cancellation of this standard a notification will be published in the monthly information index «National standards». Relevant information, notification and lyrics are also posted in the information system of General use — on the official website of the Federal Agency for technical regulation and Metrology on the Internet (www.gost.ru)
Introduction
Established in this standard the terms are arranged in a systematic manner that reflects the system of concepts of this field of knowledge.
For each concept has a single standardized term.
Not recommended for use synonymous terms is given in parentheses after standardized term and marked marked «NRC».
The standard lists the standardized foreign-language equivalents of terms in English (language code EN) language.
Standardized terms are printed in bold font deprecated terms-synonyms in italics, the equivalent terms in English — light font.
The standard is an alphabetical index of terms in Russian, and an alphabetical index in English. In the index the terms are given separately indicating the number of the article.
In addition to the definition of terms examples of photographic or graphic representations of concepts.
After defining the terms is given in the explanatory notes, in some cases, concepts are defects containing a description of their possible location, main causes of and removal instructions.
Notes formed on the basis of generally accepted requirements to the surface quality of threaded connections of casing, tubing, drill pipe and pipes for pipelines used in the oil and gas industry. Depending on the conditions in normative and technical documents can be set different requirements to the surface quality of threaded connections.
This standard takes account of the terms used in API RP 5B1 and API Std 5T1, with the exception of terms related to the geometrical parameters of threaded joints (sharp end, a shallow chamfer, thin coils and thick coils, the output of the thread on the end), and group terms (traces of abrasion, traces of movement, traces of tool).
This standard concepts such as captivity and sunset, United under one term captivity, as they are practically undetectable by visual inspection, the term «bundle» as deprecated terms, as the stratification is not a defect of the surface.
1 Scope
This standard establishes terms and definitions in the field of surface quality of threaded connections of casing, tubing, drill pipe and pipes for pipelines used in the oil and gas industry.
Note — Requirements for surface quality of threaded connections, as well as the ability to remove surface defects must be fixed in normative and technical documentation on the threaded connection.
This standard should be used for visual acceptance quality control of the surface of threaded connections.
This standard may be applied by visual incoming inspection and quality control of the surface of threaded connections in the process of operation.
This standard should be applied in conjunction with GOST 11708, GOST 21014, GOST 25762, GOST and ISO 9000 [1]*.

If the reference standard is cancelled without replacement, then the situation in which the given link applies to the extent that does not affect this link.
3 Terms and definitions
3.1 threaded connection: the Constructive element of the product involved in the connection of this product with another product, includes in addition to the thread other elements — end face, chamfer, escarpment, boring, groove, depending on the design of threaded connections. |
EP | thread connection |
3.2 imperfection (NRC. the allowable defect):an Inconsistent or inhomogeneity of the surface having the form, location and (or) the size of the established requirements to the surface quality of a screw connection. |
EP | Imperfectstion |
Notes 1 the imperfections of the surface of the threaded connection due to the design of threaded connections, manufacturing processes of products (of the source workpiece), machining, Assembly and operation. 2 If the surface of the threaded connection detected only the imperfections, the surface quality of a screw connection considered eligible. 3 surface Imperfections threaded connections is not allowed to remove. | ||
3.3 defect (NRC. invalid defect): an Inconsistent or inhomogeneity of the surface having the form, location and (or) the size of the invalid statutory requirements for the surface quality of a screw connection. |
EP | defect |
Notes 1 surface Defects of threaded connections due to inconsistencies in the quality of the metal, geometry, and manufacturing process of products (of the source workpiece), and the processes of machining, Assembly and operation. 2 If on the surface of the threaded joint defects, surface quality of threaded connections is considered not to conform. 3 Defects should be removed from the surface of the threaded connection, provided that the deletion will not lead to a mismatch of its geometric parameters, and a plot of Stripping will have a surface roughness not higher than the roughness of the contiguous surfaces and a smooth transition to it. |
Figure 1 — Turns with kernoviae
3.4 the coils with kernoviae (NRC. black top, chernavina, black threads): the threads with vertices, where the preserved surface of the original workpiece (see figure 1). | EP | black-crested threads |
| ||
| ||
Notes 1 Are defect, if located on the thread with a full profile. 2 Can be located on the outer and inner thread with complete and incomplete profile. 3 Education due to the design of threaded connections with tapered threads and is in the process of machining due to: — inconsistency of the outer diameter of the original workpiece when cutting external threads (less than the allowable values); — inconsistency of the inner diameter of the original workpiece when cutting internal threads (more than the permissible values); — ovality, curvature, or raznoshennoy all of the initial billet is in excess of the permissible values; — incorrect installation of the initial billet at the threading machine. 4 it is Recommended that removal using a fine grinding tool. |
Figure 2 — Dent
3.5 dent (NRC. the depression, recess, indentation, Nadab, imprint, shell, dead meat): a non-linear recess with sloping walls and a flat bottom (see figure 2). | EP | dent, dinge, mashe |
| ||
| ||
Notes 1 Is defective in the following cases: — located on the thread with a full profile, resistant sealing elements or threaded connections; — leads to a mismatch of the geometrical parameters of other elements of the threaded connection; — leads to delamination anti-seize coating. 2 May be located on any element of the threaded connection. 3 is Formed as a result of impact on the threaded connection: — in the production process — by moving, monitoring, testing and packaging; — in the process of transportation and during loading and unloading operations; — in the process of operation when lowering the lift operations (the landing of the upper pipe into the coupler or belled end of the bottom tube). 4 it is Recommended that removal using a fine grinding tool. |
Figure 3 — The Comb
3.6 comb (NRC. Burr, ledge, flange): Thin, long strip of metal that extends above the top of the threads and the edge of the chamfer (see figure 3). |
EP | fin |
| ||
Notes 1 Is a defect, if placed above the generatrix of the outer cone threads and protrudes into the cavity between the turns of the thread. 2 May be located on the external and internal thread with an incomplete profile and lead-in chamfer. 3 Education due to the process of machining in which, along with the cut of the metal is partially offset (squeezing) of the metal, which causes its protrusion above the surface. 4 it is Recommended that removal using a fine grinding tool. |
Figure 4 — Nick
3.7 nick (NRK. dent, depression, dimple, Nadab, imprint, shell, dead meat): non-linear indentation apologise walls and non-planar (acute) bottom (see figure 4). |
