5.3. To determine the mass of zinc coating the test specimen is degreased, weighed, immersed in a solution of antimony oxide () or antimony chloride () in hydrochloric acid and allowed to stand until the cessation of rapid outgassing, and then the specimen is removed from the solution, washed thoroughly with cold and then with hot water, dried with filter paper and weighed. Degreasing is a technical synthetic ethyl alcohol.
The solution of antimony oxide or antimony chloride is prepared by the following method: 20 g of antimony oxide (or 32 g of antimony chloride) was dissolved in 1000 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid (GOST 3118−77) for first and second class or 50 g of oxides of antimony class P.
Mass of zinc coating, applied to the two sides of the sheet in grams (a) at 1 mcalculated by the formula
, (1)
where is the mass of three samples (3, 4 and 5) to dissolve the zinc coating, with an accuracy of 0.01 g, g;
— the mass of three samples (3, 4 and 5) after dissolving the zinc coating, with an accuracy of 0.01 g, g;
— actual area of the sample surface with an accuracy of 1·10m, m.
To determine the mass of zinc coating is allowed to use other methods to ensure the required accuracy.
The method specified in this standard, applies when the dispute in the assessment.
(Changed edition, Rev. No. 1, 2).
5.4. The thickness variation of the coating in the transverse direction of the sheet is defined as the absolute difference between the maximum and minimum values of the thickness of the coating on samples 3, 4 and 5 according to the formula
