1 Scope


This standard applies to copper wire rod (hereinafter — wire rod), intended for the manufacture of wire, contact wires, tires and other electrical products.

The standard specifies the requirements for chemical composition, dimensions, technical characteristics of wire rod, and test methods.

3 Terms and definitions


This standard applies the following terms with respective definitions:

3.1 wire rods: the Blank with a transverse circular cross-section, constant along the length, rolled into the Bay, made usually by the method of continuous casting or by continuous casting and rolling.

3.2 ovality (deviation from circular shape): Half of the difference between the largest and smallest values of the diameters measured at one cross section perpendicular to the axis of the rod.

3.3 Bay: Cut product wound into a series of continuous turns.

4 Basic parameters and dimensions

4.1 produce wire Rod brands:

— KM — copper wire rod;

— KMB — oxygen-free copper wire rod;

— Cmor — copper wire rod, obtained by continuous casting and rolling from refined waste and scrap of copper.

4.2 nominal rod diameter and maximum deviation from the nominal diameter shall be as specified in table 1.

Note — by agreement between the consumer and manufacturer, wire rod nominal diameter of 8.0 mm can be manufactured with maximum deviation from nominal diameter ±0.3 mm.

It is possible to produce wire rod in other diameters, the maximum deviation from the diameter should correspond to the nearest larger the size specified in this table.

4.3 Ovality of wire rod shall not exceed the limit deviation of the diameter.

5 Technical requirements

5.1 General requirements

Wire rod manufactured in accordance with the requirements of this standard in accordance with technical documentation approved in the established order.

Rod should be made of copper of such quality and purity that provide the properties and characteristics of wire rod, provided for in this standard, and allow the use of wire rod for its intended use.

5.2 characteristics of

5.3 Requirements for the chemical composition

5.3.1 Rod brand KM on the chemical composition must comply with copper grades M001, M0; stamps wire rod KMB M001b copper grades, M0b; katanka brand Cmor — copper grade M1or.

5.3.2 Chemical composition of the copper of grades M0 M0b according to GOST 859 and brands M001, M001b, M1or under this standard shall be those specified in table 2.

5.4 Requirements for electrical parameters

5.5 Requirements for mechanical parameters

5.5.1 tensile strength of wire rod shall be not less than 160 MPa, the elongation after rupture of the wire rod shall be not less than 35%.

5.5.2 wire rods, all brands should stand the test of torsion with subsequent unwinding without breaking and the appearance of defects of casting and rolling, the depth of which is at reference sweep is greater than 0.2 mm. the Number of twists specified in table 3.

5.5.3 wire rods, all brands should stand the test of torsion in one direction.

The number of twists in one direction to the complete destruction must be not less rod diameter: 8.0 mm — 50; over 8.0 mm to 13.0 mm inclusive — 15; more than 13,0 mm — 8.

5.5.4 When ordering is allowed to establish additional requirements for wire rod grades: KM and Kmor — on the elongation of the helix; BMP — resistance against hydrogen embrittlement.

5.6 Marking

5.6.1 Marking of wire rod shall conform to the requirements of GOST 18690 with additions by the present standard.

5.6.2 To each coil of wire rod should be attached a label on which shall indicate:

— name or name and trademark of manufacturer;

— the name of the country of manufacture;

— the symbol of the rod;

— date of manufacture (year, month, day);

— the number of the Bay;

— net weight of the Bay, kg;

— the gross mass of the Bay, kg;

— conformity mark (if certificate);

— the batch number.

The label must bear the stamp of technical control.

5.7 Packaging

5.7.1 Packaging of wire rod shall conform to the requirements of GOST 18690 with additions by the present standard.

5.7.2 supply wire Rod in coils with a single cut. The net weight and the gross weight of a Bay is determined by agreement between the consumer and the manufacturer.

5.7.3 wire rods must be wound in coils without entanglement, perekrashivaniya coils, impeding the free unwinding during processing. The winding density to ensure the integrity of bays in packaging and transportation.

It is necessary to leave free the lower end of the rod to ensure continuity in the processing; the length of the free end of the rod set when ordering.

5.7.4 Each coil of wire rod should be tied with steel packing band or ribbon made of other materials suitable for this application, in at least three places equally spaced around the circumference, to ensure the integrity of the coils.

5.7.5 Rod needs to be Packed. Packaging of wire rod needs to protect it from contamination and rainfall.

5.7.6 According to customer’s request wire rod can be supplied without packaging.

6 acceptance Rules

6.1 acceptance criteria of the rod should correspond to GOST 15.309 and the requirements of this standard.

6.2 Categories of tests

To verify compliance with rod requirements of this standard prescribed acceptance tests.

6.3 wire Rod presented to the receiving parties. For the party and take the wire rod in the amount of replacement generation. The party should consist of a rod of the same brand, made of copper of the same brand of the same nominal diameter.

After carrying out acceptance tests on the party issue a document about quality that contains:

— name or name and trademark of manufacturer;

— the name of the country of manufacture;

— legal address of the manufacturer and (or) the seller;

— the symbol of the rod;

the results of mechanical tests;

— the results of electrical tests;

— chemical composition;

the weight of the party;

— the batch number;

— date of manufacture (month, year);

— warranty period of storage of wire rod.

Testing is allowed in the production process. The results of the tests carried out in the production process are the results of acceptance testing.

6.4 the Test shall be in the scope of the technical requirements and the volume of sample indicated in table 4. If unsatisfactory test results, at least one of the performance indicators specified in the 4.2; 4.3; 5.2.1.2; 5.3.2; 5.4.1; 5.5.1−5.5.3, it is carried out re-testing at twice the sample taken from the same batch. The results of repeated tests spread to the entire party.

7 control Methods

7.1 All the tests and measurements carried out in normal climate conditions according to GOST 15150.

7.2 determining the diameter of wire rod (4.2)

7.2.1 measuring instruments

When taking measurements, use a micrometer according to GOST 6507 with divisions of not more than 0.01 mm or Vernier caliper with a scale division of not more than 0.01 mm.

7.2.2 performance measurement

Measure the diameter of wire rod, doing with a micrometer or caliper on the straight sections, wire rod, at a distance of not less than 200 mm from the beginning or end of the Bay, at the same time determine the largest and smallest sizes in each section.

If there are differences in the measurement of the rod diameter with a micrometer, perform the churchyard 6507.

7.3 Ovality of wire rod (4.3) test according to GOST 26877.

7.4 surface Quality of wire rod (5.2.1.1) check visual inspection of the outer coils without the use of magnifying devices.

7.5 Okislennosti of the rod surface (5.2.1.2) is determined on the sample of wire rod weighing from 0.1 to 0.2 kg, selected from the outer loop of each of the selected bays, by the gravimetric method in Appendix A, or on the sample rod length from 100 to 200 mm, selected from the end of the Bay, an electrochemical method for the application B.

If there is disagreement in the definition of oxidizing the surface of the test carried out by the gravimetric method.

7.6 To determine the chemical composition of wire rod from each selected Bay cut off one sample.

The selection and preparation of samples for chemical analysis is carried out according to GOST 24231.

Determination of the chemical composition (5.3.2) is carried out according to GOST 9717.2, GOST 9717.3, 13938.11 GOST, GOST 13938.13, 27981.1 GOST, GOST 27981.2, 27981.5 GOST, GOST 31382.

Allowed to use other methods of determination of chemical composition, certified in the prescribed manner, in accordance with the requirements of GOST R 8.563.

Allowed to the manufacturer of the sampling carried out by the molten metal.

7.7 Determination of specific electrical resistance (5.4.1)

7.7.1 measuring instruments

When performing measurements apply:

the micrometer according to GOST 4381 with divisions of not more than 0.01 mm;

— laboratory scale high precision class according to GOST 24104 and scales according to GOST R 53228.

7.7.2 measurements

Electrical resistivity is determined according to GOST 7229 on a single sample.

7.7.3 Processing of measurement results

7.8 Testing rod tensile (tensile strength and elongation after fracture) (5.5.1) is carried out according to GOST 1497 on the specimen with an estimated length of 200 mm, selected from the end of the Bay.

Sampling is carried out according to GOST 24047.

7.9 the twist Test with the unwinding of (5.5.2) and twisting to one side (5.5.3) is performed on the sample of wire rod with a nominal diameter up to 10 mm inclusive, the churchyard 1545; over 10 mm according to technical documentation approved in the established order.

A sample taken from the end of the Bay rod; length of the test piece (distance between grips) — (300±5) mm.

Test twisting in one direction is carried out before complete transverse destruction of the sample.

7.10 Testing of wire rod to the elongation of the spiral (5.5.4) is carried out according to GOST 28515, resistance against hydrogen embrittlement (5.5.4) — according to GOST 24048.

7.11 the Results of measurements rounded off in accordance with the requirements of ST CMEA 543.

7.12 permitted other methods of measurement, comparable with the accuracy specified in this standard. Allowed the use of other measurement means, auxiliary devices, providing measurements.

If there is disagreement in assessing the quality of wire rod between manufacturer and user measured by the methods specified in this standard.

7.14 Verification of marking (5.6) and packaging (5.7) conduct external examination.

8 Transportation and storage

8.1 Transportation and storage of wire rod shall conform to the requirements of GOST 18690.

Wire rod transportyour on wooden or metal pallets, ensuring the safety of the shape of the Bay for transportation.

8.2 wire Rod transporterowych all types of transport in covered vehicles in accordance with cargo carriage regulations applicable to transport of this species. 8.3 Rod should be stored in closed premises in conditions excluding mechanical damage, pollution, moisture and chemically active substances.

9 manufacturer’s Warranty

9.1 the Manufacturer guarantees the conformity of wire rod to the requirements of this standard subject to the rules and conditions of transportation, storage and processing.

9.2 Warranty period of storage of rod — 3 months from date of manufacture.

9.3 after the warranty period of storage rod before use must be checked for compliance with the requirements of this standard and compliance can be used by the user to the destination.

A. 1 measuring instruments, materials, solutions

When performing measurements using the following measuring instruments:

thermometer liquid glass according to GOST 28498;

— scales of high accuracy class according to GOST 24104 and scales according to GOST R 53228;

— stopwatch [1].

When taking measurements, use the following products and solutions:

— acetone GOST 2768;

— gasoline according to GOST 1012;

— sulfuric acid according to GOST 4204, 8% to 10% by mass solution.

A. 2 performance measurement

Before etching the samples rinsed in warm water (the temperature should not be below 40 °C), dried and wiped with a dry cloth, followed by degreasing with solvent (acetone or gasoline) and weighed in the balance. The sample was subjected to etching in a sulfuric acid solution for 15 min. the temperature of the etching solution should be from 70 °C to 80 °C.

After etching samples were washed with water, dried and weighed on the same scales.
