5. REPRINTING. January 2005
This standard specifies a comparative measurement of hardness by shock imprint of non-ferrous metals and alloys based on copper, zinc, aluminum, titanium, Nickel, chromium, tin, lead, cadmium, silver, molybdenum at a temperature of from minus 10°to plus 50 °C.
The method is based on embedding in the surface of the control bar and the test items carbide conical indenter.
1. SAMPLING METHODS
1.1. When measuring hardness on curved surfaces a radius of curvature of them in the application of the prints must be at least 5 mm.
1.2. The minimum thickness of the test items needs to be 10 times greater than the depth of print.
2. EQUIPMENT
2.1. Portable hardness testers impact
2.1.1. Impact energy of portable hardness testers from 0.3 to 25 nm.
2.1.2. The initial impact velocity (rate of meeting the drummer of the device with the striker) is from 1 to 5 m/s.
2.1.3. The indenter of the hardness of double — sided cone with angles at the vertex of 136° ± 10' and a rounded vertex with a radius of the sphere is not more than 0.2 mm (figure). The surface of the cones within 1 mm from the top, counting on their axes, must be carefully polished and free from cracks and other defects that are visible with a magnifying glass at a 30-fold increase.
2.1.4. The hardness of NC conewith apex angle 136° equal hardness Vickers HV, measured by means of a tetrahedral diamond pyramid with angles between opposite faces equal to 136°.
2.2. An optical microscope with a scale division of not more than 0.01 mm.
2.3. The total error of the hardness measurement shall not exceed 5% compared to the results of tests on stationary equipment according to GOST 2999.
3. PREPARING FOR THE TEST
3.1. In the tests used steel control rods with cross-section 4,54.5 mm in any hardness HV in the range of120−360.
3.2. The surface of the test products and the control bar should have a roughness less than = 1,25 µm according to GOST 2789 and be free from foreign matter.
3.3. In the preparation of the surface of the test item and control stick it is necessary to take measures to prevent a possible change in the hardness of these surfaces due to heating or work hardening when machining.
4. TESTING
4.1. When measuring comparative hardness of non-ferrous metals and alloys on Vickers carbide tip in the form of a double-sided cone with angles of 136° at the vertex embedded in the surface of steel control bar and the test items with the help of short-term dynamic loads generated by the impact mechanism.
4.2. The distance between the center of the print and the edge of the product of the control block or the neighboring imprint must be at least 2.5 of the diameter of the print.
4.3. After removal of the indenter from the test surface using an optical microscope to measure the diameters of the prints of the cone on the surface of steel control bar and the test items (see drawing).
Measurement of the diameters of the prints of the cone on the surface of steel control bar and the test items
4.3.1. The diameters of the prints it is necessary to measure in two mutually perpendicular directions. For the final result take the average of these two measurements.
4.3.2. The test will be considered invalid if the difference of measurements of the diameters of a single fingerprint that exceeds 2% of the lesser of them.
Note. For anisotropic materials we obtain the difference between the measurements of the diameters of the prints may not meet the specified tolerance. In the normative-technical documentation for the supply of anisotropic materials must be specified limits on the difference between the measurements of two perpendicular diameters of the prints.
5. PROCESSING OF THE RESULTS
5.1. Comparative hardness of the test items by Vickers () is calculated by the formula
,
where is the mean hardness value of control bar measured according to GOST 2999;
and the diameter of the shock cone prints on the surface of a steel control bar and test of workpiece, mm;
and dynamic coefficients of hardness of metals steel control bar and the test items.
5.2. Hardness values calculated according to the formula, depending on values of the diameters of dynamic prints and , the hardness of steel control bar and dynamic coefficients of hardness and are given in table app.
APPLICATION (recommended). Comparative test sample hardness HV© depending on the relationship of the diameters of the prints on the control bar (d (e)) and the sample (d (0)) and the hardness of the steel a test block Vickers HV (e)
