7. REPRINT (March 1993) with Amendments No. 1, 2 approved in December 1984, October 1989 (IUS 3−85, 1−90)
This standard specifies the test method for extrusion according Eriksen of the sheets and strips of a thickness of from 0.1 to 2.0 mm at a temperature of (20) °C.
The method lies in the indentation of the spherical punch into the sample, clamped under the action of the contact force between the die and the pressed ring prior to the formation squeezing into the hole through cracks and determine the depth of the hole.
Standard is fully consistent with CT CMEA 478−77, ISO 8490−86.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 2).
1. SAMPLING
1.1. The test used samples in the form of a strip with a width equal to the width of the ribbon, when the width of the tape 13 to 90 mm, width 90 mm — if the width of the tape and leaf 90 mm or more.
For tests used samples in the form of a square or circle of the appropriate size.
Note. When the thickness of the sheet from 0.1 to 0.2 mm and a width of 30 mm and more are used samples having a width of 30mm.
The samples must be ways, precluding the possibility of the influence of heat or of cold working.
1.2. The length of the sample must ensure that squeezing the required number of holes (at least three) with the distances between the centers of adjacent holes is not less than 55 mm when the strip width less than 90 mm and not less than 90 mm when the width of the tape or sheet of 90 mm or more.
Distance from the center of the hole to the edge of the specimen shall be ½ of the width of the sample — sample with a width less than 90 mm and not less than 45 mm when the width of the sample is 90 mm or more.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 1).
1.3. The number of samples for testing, location selection and number of holes on the sample set in the normative-technical documentation for metal products.
Sec. 1. (Changed edition, Rev. N 2).
2. EQUIPMENT
2.1. The apparatus for testing for the extrusion of sheets and strips shall be provided to measure the depth of the indentation punch with an error of not more than 0.1 mm.
2.2. The device should provide a clamp of the sample with a constant force and having a device for measuring forces pressing and extruding with an accuracy of ±5% of measured value ranging from 0.04 greatest efforts, developed the device.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 1).
2.3. The device should allow manual termination of the process of extrusion holes, automatically locking the depth of the hole at the moment of reduction of extrusion forces and the appearance of through cracks on the sample in the working range of extrusion forces.
Note. Automation of the termination test for emergence through cracks allowed indirect way, for example, the necessary delay time of the deflection device after the start of a sharp decline in extrusion forces. In this case, the control speed of movement of the punch should have adjustable clamps the minimum and maximum operating speeds.
2.4. The punch during the test should not rotate.
2.5. Misalignment of the axis of the punch relative to the axis of the matrix on a stroke length (20 mm) should not exceed 0.1 mm.
2.6. The contact of the punch with the sample under test should occur without impact.
2.7. The device should provide a gradual squeezing of the hole.
2.8. Sizes, maximum rejections of sizes and surface finish of punches, matrices and the clamping rings shall be as specified in Appendix 1.
The punch, matrix, and pressure ring must have a sufficient rigidity.
On working surfaces should be free of scratches, dents and other defects visible to the naked eye.
The nonplanarity of the clamping surfaces of the matrix and clamping ring is allowed no more than 0.01 mm.
2.9. Hardness of working surfaces of the matrix, clamping rings and punches should be not less than HV 750.
3. PREPARING FOR THE TEST
3.1. Before testing, inspect the samples.
Samples must not have depressions and curved edges that prevent the correct installation of the sample in the test device, and must be clean.
Edit samples in cold and hot conditions, heat treatment, and additional treatment of the surface of samples is not allowed.
Roll material feel, without prior rectification of the sample bulge to the punch, unless otherwise indicated in the normative-technical documentation for metal products.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 2).
3.2. The width of the specimen measuring ruler according to GOST 427−75 or caliper according to GOST 166−89 with an error of not more than 1.0 mm in thickness with a micrometer according to GOST 6507−90 with an accuracy of at least 0,01 mm.
Allowed the use of other measuring tools that provide required accuracy of measurement.
The measurement is performed in at least three places and determine the arithmetic mean value of all measurements.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 2).
3.3. Before testing, both sides of the specimen are lubricated with a thin layer of graphite grease GOST 3333−80.
The use of other types of lubricants provided for in normative and technical documentation for metal products.
4. TESTING
4.1. Dimensions of the testing tool selected in accordance with the table.
4.2. The clamping force of the sample between the die and clamping ring should be approximately 10,000 N (1000 kgf).
4.3. The speed of the extruding hole tool N 1 should be 5−20 mm/min, and tools N 2, 3, 4 — 5−10 mm/min. the Test should finish at minimum speeds.
4.4. A sign of the end of the test is the appearance of the hole through cracks, visible in the lumen.

Allowed to carry out tests on the basis of a sharp decline in extrusion forces, except for the differences in the assessment of the quality of steel products.
4.5. The depth of the hole is denoted by IE.
In the designation of the depths of the holes obtained by the tools N 2, 3, 4, you must specify the number corresponding to the inner diameter of the matrix IE; IE; lE.
When tested on the basis of a sharp decline in the efforts of the extrusion depth of the hole is designated for tools:
N 1 — IE; N is 2, 3, 4 — lE; lE; E.
5. PROCESSING OF THE RESULTS
5.1. The depth of the hole, which is characteristic of the material when tested according to the method of Eriksen, is determined with an error of not more than 0.1 mm.
5.2. The quality of the metal is evaluated by the arithmetic mean of the obtained values of the deep holes.
5.3. The test results are entered in the Protocol, the form of which is given in Appendix 2.
