This standard applies to bars and finished with rivets and sets the method of testing metal for crushing to determine the ability of metals to deformation and to detect defects of the surface.
The test involves crushing of the sample along its axis in a cold or hot state to the formation of the rivet heads or flattening of the head of the rivet.
1. THE SELECTION AND PREPARATION OF SAMPLES
1.1 Place the segments and number of samples selected for test shall be fitted to the relevant standards of the product.
1.1.2. When testing the rivets experience as samples, cut from the stem and the rivet head that is either cut off or leave on the web.
Kind of sample for testing of rivets is established by standards for the corresponding products.
1.2. From bars and rods samples cut with a height equal to 2.2 diameter.
1.3. Samples cut off in modes that do not cause hardening, tempering or oxidation affecting the properties of the metal.
2. TESTING
2.1. Deformation of the samples during the test for the flattening and the formation of the head is produced with a static or dynamic load application. If necessary, the character of the load is specified in the standards for corresponding products.
2.2. The test specimens in cold condition is produced when the initial temperature of the sample (20) °C.
Testing hot test temperature set in the standards for corresponding products.
(Changed edition, Rev. No. 1).
2.3. The samples face down (flatten) to form a head with a diameter of 1.5−1.6 and a height of 0.4−0.5 diameter of the rod or rod (to hell. 1).
Height protruding from the mandrel of the sample subjected to flattening, is set equal to 1.2 of the diameter of the rod or rod (to hell. 1 and 2).

2.4. Samples firmly inserted into the die hole so that the protruding portion of the sample spent only on the education of the head, not filling the gap.
2.5. During the test of the rivet heads and the heads formed by the precipitation of the rod or stem, the flattening produce to obtain a head specified amount set by the ratio of the diameter values () flattened the head to the diameter () of the rod or stem of the rivet (Fig. 3). The ratio value :sets the standards for the relevant product.

The recommended relationship : — 1,75; 2,0; 2,25; 2,50.
3. EVALUATION OF TEST RESULTS
3.1. Inspection of the samples after the test is produced with or without the use of magnifying devices that set the standard for the relevant product.
3.2. Products are considered to be suitable, if the surface of the samples to be tested, there are no cracks and tears.
