Control of the air environment of the working area must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of GOST 12.1.005 and model regulations on organization of monitoring of air environment, approved by Gosgortechnadzor.

Determination of aluminium in workplace air should be carried out by the photometric method in accordance with methodologies approved by the Ministry of health.

(Changed edition, Rev. N 2, 3).

2A.2.1. (Deleted, Rev. N 2).

2A.3. Aluminum powder in accordance with the requirements of GOST 12.1.044 belong to the group of flammable substances. Suspended in air atmosphere of aluminum powder (aerosol) is explosive, in the erected condition (aerogel) is a fire hazard.

In the presence of a source of initiation of ignition (burning or glowing body, sparking from the impact or friction, thermal manifestations of chemical reactions and mechanical impacts, electrical discharges, etc.) aerosol aluminum dust at a concentration above the lower concentration limit of flame propagation (LEL) explodes.

While settled in the room aluminum dust can go into a suspended state and cause a more powerful explosion. LEL aluminum powder not less than 40 g/mГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3), the estimated values of the ignition temperature of the aerosol — 540 °C, the aerogel — 470 °C.

Aluminum powder is in the interaction with water, oxygen and oxidants are able to burn.

When injected into aluminum dust water it may catch fire. The danger increases with increasing dispersion of the powder.

When working with powder it is necessary to avoid dusting and to prevent sources of initiation of ignition, exposure to dust, moisture, and accumulations of settled dust.

2A.4. In accordance with the requirements of GOST 19433 according to the degree of danger the powder will relate to dangerous goods of class 4, division 4.3. Category of danger 431.

2A.3, 2A.4. (Changed edition, Rev. N 2, 3).

2A.5. To extinguish an aluminum powder is used: sand, dry powders of alumina, magnesia, dehydrated carnallite and fire-extinguishing powders on the basis of the chlorides of alkaline and alkaline-earth metals. Do not use water, foam and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers. General requirements for fire safety shall conform to the requirements of GOST 12.1.004.

2A.6. For individual protection of respiratory organs against aerosols of aluminum powder, you must use special dustproof clothing according to the current standard industry regulations of free issue of workwear, footwear and protective equipment to workers and employees, approved by the USSR state Committee for labour and social Affairs.

Collective means of protection against aluminum powder shall conform to the safety regulations in the production of powders and powders of aluminum, magnesium and alloys based on them, approved by Gosgortechnadzor.

2A.5; 2A.6. (Changed edition, Rev. N 3).

2A.7. Unusable aluminum dust and the dust (waste) is not allowed to export in the dumps. Waste should be burned in locations agreed with the local fire Department.

2A.8. (Deleted, Rev. N 2).

Section 2A. (Added, Rev. N 1).

4.8.2. Tested

Weighed dust mass of 0.05−0.1 g, weighed with accuracy up to 0.0002 g, placed in a vial set in a reaction vessel inclined. In the reaction vessel is carefully poured 30 cmГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3)of a solution of sodium hydroxide with a mass concentration of 20 g/DMГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3)so that the solution was below the edges of the tube.

The reaction vessel is tightly closed with a rubber stopper, through which passes the tube connecting it via the three-way valve with the atmosphere and through two-way tap with the measuring burette.

Before beginning the experiment the measuring burette with leveling bottle filled with water, and then the reaction vessel by turning the three-way tap fragment with the atmosphere and connected to the measuring burette.

The temperature of the cooling water reaction vessel and water contained in the casing of the measuring burette, should not differ from ambient temperature by more than 1 °C.

The reaction vessel is shaken so that a portion of the solution was in the vial with powder, and immersed in water. The shaking is repeated several times until complete dissolution of aluminium.

After cessation of evolution of gas and cooling the reaction vessel to ambient temperature the volume of gas measured 2−3 times every 15 min using equalization flask. After the gas volume will become constant, measure atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature.

4.8.3. Processing of the results

Mass fraction of active aluminum (ГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3)) in percent is calculated by the formula

ГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3),

where ГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3)is the atmospheric pressure, PA;

ГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3) — elasticity of water vapor at the temperature of analysis, PA;

0,000216 — the ratio of hydrogen to aluminum;

ГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3) — the volume of the evolved gas, cmГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3);

ГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3) — the temperature in the casing of the measuring burette, °C;

ГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3) — suspension of aluminum powder,

The result of the test accept rounded to the first decimal place arithmetic mean of two parallel definitions, the difference between which should not exceed 1 HR. %.

Control of the correctness of the results of the analysis should be carried out by the method of standard addition in accordance with the requirements of GOST 25086.

4.8.1−4.8.3. (Added, Rev. N 2).

4.9. Mass fraction of aluminum oxide (AlГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3)OГОСТ 10096-76 Пудра алюминиевая комкованная. Технические условия (с Изменениями N 1, 2, 3)) is determined by difference between 100% and the content amounts of active aluminium, iron, supplements fat and moisture percentages.

(Changed edition, Rev. N 2).

4.10. To check the appearance of the powder and the absence of foreign particles is carried out by visual inspection of the whole sample.
