APPROVED by the State standards Committee of the USSR Council of Ministers on 29 September 1972 (report No. 142)
The Chairman of the branch scientific and technical Committee Deputy Chairman of Gosstandart of the USSR Vladimir Tkachenko
Members: Lyamin B. N., Panfilov E. A., Sharonov G. N., Gliches A. V., V. R. Varchenko, Burenkov G. K., Kiselev B. R.
Promulgated by Decree of the State Committee of standards of Ministerial Council of the USSR of 25 December 1972 2322 N
This standard sets used in science, engineering and manufacturing of terms and definitions of basic concepts in the field of strengthening treatment.
The terms set out in this standard are mandatory for use in all types of documentation, manuals, tutorials, technical and reference literature.
For each concept has a single standardized term. The use of terms-synonyms of the normalized term is prohibited. Unacceptable for use synonymous terms given in the standard as a reference and is marked with the note «NDP».
Standardized terms are shown in bold and invalid synonyms in italics.
In the standard as reference is given to foreign equivalents in German (D) English (E) languages.
The term |
Definition |
1. Hardening |
Strengthening the resilience of the material of the workpiece or the destruction or permanent deformation |
2. Volumetric hardening |
Hardening the entire section |
3. Surface hardening |
Hardening change the properties of the surface layer. Note. Hardening of the surface layer — surface hardening, which increases resistance of the surface layer destruction or permanent deformation. |
4. Hardening treatment D. Verfestigungsgehandlung E. Strengthening Treatment |
Processing that creates the hardening. Note. Depending on the type of processing — the processing of plastic deformation, heat treatment, chemical treatment, etc. are distinguished: «strengthening processing by plastic deformation», «a hardening heat treatment», «chemical strengthening treatment», etc. |
5. Volumetric hardening treatment |
Processing, creating a volumetric hardening |
6. Surface hardening treatment |
Treatment that creates surface hardening |
7. Combined hardening treatment |
Hardening treatment performed simultaneously by multiple methods. Note. Examples of combined hardening treatment are: «a hardening chemical-thermal processing», «hardening deformation-heat treatment», etc. |
8. Combined volumetric hardening treatment |
Combined hardening treatment, creating a volumetric hardening |
9. Combined surface hardening treatment |
Combined hardening treatment that creates surface hardening |
10. Combined hardening treatment |
Hardening treatment, performed in sequence by several methods. Note. An example of combined hardening treatment is a thermal hardening treatment followed by surface plastic deformation |
11. The degree of hardening |
The relative increase in the value of a given parameter of resilience of the material of the workpiece or the destruction or permanent deformation compared to the baseline as a result of hardening treatment |
12. The thickness of the surface hardened layer |
The shortest distance from the surface of the material or workpiece to a notional surface, whose points correspond to a given value of the parameter is the resistance of the material of the workpiece or the destruction or permanent deformation |
