1. This standard applies to welds performed by fusion welding in one or in several layers, and establishes the basic welding positions and their designations.
The standard fully complies ST SEV 2856−81.
(Changed edition, Rev. N 1).
2. The welding position is determined by the angle of inclination of the longitudinal axis of the weld and the angle of rotation transverse to the axis of the weld relative to their null positions.
3. Basic welding positions and their designations are given in the table.

4. When performing multi-layered welds in different positions indicate the main provisions of the weld should be attributed to each layer separately.
5. Welding positions not covered by this standard are designated by the angles and .
6. The welding direction indicated by an arrow after the letters indicating the position of the welding. For example, when welding the trigger the arrow is pointing down «In"and when you weld on the rise — up «».
