The growth of prices for rare-earth metals in 2007 was caused by the following reasons:
— Export duties on rare earth metals from the PRC,
— Decrease in licensed export from the PRC,
— increase in demand in China for REM for production of magnets,
— suspended exports from Inner Mongolia during the dam construction
dam construction,
— interruptions in supplies from Sichuan Province due to the restructuring of the mining industry and concentration of rights in the hands of a single company winning a tender.
