Technical characteristics

The plasticity of vanadium depends to a large extent on the content of additional elements (nitrogen, oxygen). Pure vanadium is characterized by good malleability and is easily worked in a variety of ways - stamped, pressed, and rolled. As a reminder, vanadium itself is used as an important component in tool steels and high speed steels. Vanadium increases strength, resistance to impact and abrasion, which has a positive effect on the cutting process of even high-strength alloys. It can also be found in alloys with chromium in alloying discs for sawing pipes, channels and other metal profiles. Supplier "Auremo" offers to buy high quality products that meet GOST and international standards.

Forging

Vanadium and its alloys are processed by forging, including rotary forging machines. The temperature forging starts at 1000-1400°C, and ends at 800°C. Forging produces blanks for subsequent pressing, rolling or drawing. The starting material for forging is ingots, smelted by arc melting, more rarely - sintered billets.

Cutting

Vanadium can be cut into billets by circular saws or other cutting tools according to the modes of cutting bronze or stainless steel. A clean surface when turning is achieved by high cutting speeds at low feeds and by lubrication with kerosene. Surface finish and cutting of vanadium alloys can be done with abrasive wheels.

Harmful impurities

Harmful impurities for vanadium are nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen. Particularly difficult to remove the nitrogen and oxygen. The high purity of the ingot is achieved by electron-beam melting, which ensures that the oxygen content in the metal does not exceed 0.0045%, hydrogen 0.003% and iron 0.043%. In the deformed vanadium, the total content of nitrogen and oxygen must not exceed 0.2%.
