Steel 08Cr18T1: a classifier of steels and alloys. Below is systematized information about the purpose, chemical composition, types of supply, substitutes, critical point temperatures, physical, mechanical, technological and foundry properties for the brand — Steel 08Cr18T1.

General information about 08Cr18T1 steel

The substitute for the following steel grades
To substitute for steel grade: 12Х17, 08Х17Т.
Delivery type
GOST 5582−75 thin sheet.
Application
Welded structures not exposed to impact loads and working mainly in oxidizing environments, such as nitric acid solutions. application in welded structures is mainly limited to small cross-sections of cases (up to 3.0 mm). It is not recommended for use in welded structures operating under shock loads. Limit temperature of welded structures is not lower than -20°C. Steel is heat and corrosion resistant of ferritic class.

Technological properties of 08Cr18Ti1 steel

Forging temperature
The beginning 950−1050, the end 720−800. Cooling is done in the air.
Weldability
limited. Satisfactory mechanical properties can be obtained when welding products with small thicknesses up to 2−3 mm. Sv-08H20N9G7T and Sv-05H25N12TU wires are used for automatic submerged-arc welding under flux AN-26 and ANF-14. Steel is successfully welded by argon-arc welding without filler material and with 10X18H10T steel wire as a filler material. Contact welding is used for small sections.
