General information about 5XGM steel

The substitute for the following steel grades
Steel grades: 5XHNM, 5XHNV, 6XVS, 5XNSV, 5XGSVFU.
Delivery type
Sections, including shaped: GOST 5950−73, GOST 2590−71, GOST 2591−71. Calibrated bar GOST 5950−73, GOST 7417−75, GOST 8559−75, GOST 8560−78. Grinded rod and silversilver GOST 5950−73, GOST 14955−77. Strip GOST 4405−75. Forgings and forged blanks GOST 5950−74, GOST 1133−71, GOST 7831−78.
Application
Forging dies of steam and pneumatic hammers with a mass of falling parts to 3 tons, forging dies for hot forging, large, medium and small-section mills for rolling solid metal.

Technological properties of 5XGM steel

Forging temperature
Beginning temperature is 1200, the end temperature is 800. Sections up to 100 mm are cooled in the air, 101−350 mm — in the pit.
Weldability
Not applicable for welded constructions.
Machinability
In the hot-rolled condition at HB 207 and σB = 900 MPa Kυ dv.spl. = 0.6, Kυ b.st. = 0.3.
