Production
Alloy grade of CrN40MDB-VI is heat-resistant high-alloy steel. It is produced in accordance with the following specifications: 14-1-2131-77; 14-1-2149-77; 14-1-2121-77. The alloy contains nickel 39-42%, chromium 20-22%, in this connection it can be called chrome-nickel alloy. Silicon, phosphorus, manganese, niobium, copper and sulfur are used as additives. It is melted in vacuum induction furnaces. The temperature of steel forging is 1170 °C at the beginning and about 850 °C at the end. The finished product with a cross-section not exceeding 350 mm is air-cooled. Steel tubes of this grade are mostly produced with round cross-section, and on request with oval, rectangular and square cross-section.
Classification
KhN40MDB-VI pipes are classified by diameter and by wall thickness. With diameter of 5-250 mm and wall thickness of 0.3-6 mm the tubes are qualified as extra thin-walled. Thin-walled pipes have a diameter of 5-250 mm and a wall thickness of 0.6-20 mm. Thick-walled tubes have a diameter of 6-250 mm and wall thickness of 1.6-24 mm. Particularly thick-walled tubes are produced with a diameter of 6 to 70 mm and wall thickness of 2 to 12 mm.
