3 the essence of the method

This method is based on dissolving an analytical sample in a mixture of hydrofluoric, hydrochloric, nitric, phosphoric acids and the distillation vapors after the addition of perchloric acid. Then add hydrofluoric acid, and, if necessary, the element internal standard solution and dilute to the desired volume. The solution is sprayed into the inductively connected plasma atomic-emission spectrometer and measure the radiation intensity of tantalum and at the same time of the internal standard element, if such an element introduced.

For example, the analytical line of tantalum are shown in table 1.

The method of calibration is based on the very close accordance of the calibration solutions through the matrix of the analyzed samples and the mass fraction of tantalum in the bounding calibration solutions should be approximately in the range of 0.75% and 1.25% of the tantalum content in the analyzed sample. Therefore, the concentration of all elements in the sample must be approximately known. If this information is not available, the sample should be analysed by semiquantitative method. The advantage of this procedure is that the possible influence of the matrix elements will be automatically compensated, thereby improving the determination accuracy. This is especially important to account for inter-element effects, which can be significant in the analysis of high-alloyed alloys. All possible effects should be reduced to a minimum. It is therefore important that the spectrometer be used to satisfy the established criteria of the instrumental method for the selected analytical lines. Line corresponding to the 240,06 nm, should be thoroughly investigated. If you use other lines, they should also be carefully checked. The analytical line for the internal standard also needs to be carefully selected. It is recommended to use the line of scandium 363,07 nm. This line is free from the influences of the elements, with their contents, which is common for Nickel alloys.

Note — the Use of internal standard is not significant, since there was no significant difference in the results obtained by the laboratories with in-house standard.

8.2 Precision

8.2.1 Laboratory tests

Ten laboratories from seven countries participated in the interlaboratory testing program under the leadership of ISO/TC 155/SC 3/WG 8, was carried out according to three definitions of Tantalus to eight levels of contents. Each laboratory performed two definitions in terms of convergence in accordance with ISO 5725−1, i.e., one by, one and the same apparatus, identical conditions of analysis, the same calibration curve and the minimum amount of time. The third definition was performed on different day using the same equipment, but with a different calibration schedule.

8.2.2 wavelength selected for measurement

The wavelength chosen for the measurements processed statistically, for all laboratories participating in the work were one and the same — 240,06 nm. Not found a significant difference between the results of the laboratories internal standard.

8.2.3 Statistical analysis

Statistical analysis was conducted in accordance with ISO 5725−1, ISO 5725−2 and ISO 5725−3. The results of one laboratory were rejected as inadmissible. Statistical evaluation also showed that the characteristics of the method have not been sufficiently satisfactory for the content of tantalum is less than 0.1% at the lower end of the range, and above 5% on the top.

Upon evaluation of the results was used the method of calculation with the method of the smoothing values for the limit of convergence r, intralaboratory repeatability ГОСТ Р ИСО 22725-2014 Сплавы никелевые. A. 1 Introduction

When checking the settings of the ISP instrument was partly used documents of ISO/TC 47, ISO/TC 155.

A. 2 resolving power of the spectrometer

The resolution of the spectrometer can be defined as the difference in wavelength ГОСТ Р ИСО 22725-2014 Сплавы никелевые. Определение содержания тантала. Спектрометрический метод атомной эмиссии с индуктивно связанной плазмойbetween two spectral lines that can still be seen separately. Practically, the parameter FWHM (full bandwidth at half maximum height) is used as a measure of resolution.

Theoretically the resolution should be of the same order as the width of line in spectrum of optical emission spectrometry (OES) with inductively coupled plasma, from 2 PM to 5 PM (1 picometer is equal to 10ГОСТ Р ИСО 22725-2014 Сплавы никелевые. Определение содержания тантала. Спектрометрический метод атомной эмиссии с индуктивно связанной плазмойm). Practically, however, the observed width of emission lines of the spectrum and hence the resolution is often determined by the bandwidth of spectral lines (ГОСТ Р ИСО 22725-2014 Сплавы никелевые. Определение содержания тантала. Спектрометрический метод атомной эмиссии с индуктивно связанной плазмой) used spectrometer. In conventional industrial spectrometers the resolution is in the range from 4 to 30 PM. A good solution is very important to eliminate spectral interference, which often occur in the method ICP/OES. A. 3 Evaluation of short-term and long-term stability

Evaluation of short-term stability is to measure the standard deviation of repeatability on ICP-spectrometer. In the method of ICP/AES for solutions with a concentration of at least two-fold compared to the WEIGHT of (background), the values of RSD, which is between 0.3% and 1.0% are common. Multi-element calibration solutions can be used to measure different analytical lines present in the optical system of simultaneous actions.

Assessment of long-term stability is essentially a measure of the instrumental drift. It is only required if the ICP spectrometer was not working for a long time. These tests are the same as those used to estimate short-term stability, but with special time intervals from 15 min to 1 h and the subsequent plotting of the dependence of the deviation of each detected value short-term stability from its mean value with respect to time. Deviations of more than 2% per hour is not acceptable. If the device is not able to function better, during the analysis should control the process, often measuring the calibration solutions and the averages of the results of the analysis of solutions of the studied sample needs to be recalibrate interpolation in order to measure their intensity between the two «limiting» control the calibration solutions.

A. 4 evaluation of the equivalent background concentration (WEIGHT)

The equivalent background concentration WEIGHT used as a measure of the instrumental sensitivity. The analytical signal is usually measured at a relatively high level of background, and the intensity of the background component of the signal is better if it is done on your own sensitivity.* It is calculated as follows:

The values of WEIGHT for the analyzed elements can be found in the tables of wavelengths (usually available in the software of the device). Their smallest numerical value must be less than WEIGHT.
