Australia will begin implementation of a new copper project
The management of the company Oz Minerals in Australia made a decision on the project Carrapateena. Its launch will take place in South Australia — one of the States. Estimated value of the mine reaches 916 million USD. Planned production volumes amount to 4.25 million tonnes of ore annually. This amount will ensure the production of 65,000 tonnes of concentrate copper per year for 20 years. The number of annually produced gold will amount to 67,000 oz.
Rebecca McGrath, Chairman of the Board, reported on the ongoing work in respect of the project. Over the past year the project has been thoroughly researched. Thus was established the pilot plant, designed to enrich the ore. After the implementation of the Carrapateena project will become a supplier of high quality concentrate of copper. This product is highly demanded in the global market. This month the company expects to begin construction in residential, transport infrastructure in the area of deposits. Construction of industrial buildings should begin after the license is obtained, allowing to extract minerals. It is expected that it will be issued early next year. In operation the company will be launched in the last quarter of 2019.
Australia is still one of the zinc-copper project. Heron Resources has started construction of the processing plant. Its construction is made on a zinc-copper mine in Woodlawn. The field is located in New South Wales. Presumably the project will be implemented within 15 months. In operation, the factory will be commissioned in late 2018. The flow of ore from the Deposit will begin in 2019. The development of the Woodlawn polymetallic Deposit was open way in the years 1979−1998. Then production stopped because of deterioration of the quality of ore, costs have increased. When the restoration will involve the underground extraction method.
