At Krakatau Steel has earned new blast furnace

Krakatau Steel is one of the leading steel companies in Indonesia. It is reported that she has commissioned new equipment. We are talking about a new blast furnace plant in Cilegon. It is located in the West of the island of Java.

The process of construction of the furnace was completed in December last year. The volume of the new blast furnace is 1832 cubic meters. It is able to produce 1.2 million tons of pig iron per year. It should run at full capacity in the first quarter of 2020. In addition to furnaces, there is still a sinter plant and coke oven battery. They form a complete production complex.

On the Cilegon plant will be implemented another project of the company. It intends to build a hot rolling mill. Its capacity will be 1.5 million tons per year. It is planned that the major project to be completed by the end of this year. At the same time the mill will be commissioned.

In 2018, the company has managed to produce a decent amount of hot rolled coils. The issue volume amounted to 1.24 million tons. The power has been downloaded a little over 50%. They are able to produce up to 2.4 million tons per year. The total capacity of the company can produce 17 million tons. However, after 2018 it is produced only 9.7 million tons. It is reported the Indonesian Iron & Steel Association.

The Association also provided data regarding the consumption of steel products in Indonesia. Last year the figure was 20.3 million tons. However, mainly the entrance went imported products. It covered more than 50%. Supplies were Chinese metallurgical enterprises. Because the local manufacturers were not very popular. It’s not like Indonesian businesses. They even appealed to the local authorities to impose duties.
