Description
Alloy ML15 is used: for the manufacture of castings loaded parts, requiring leak with extreme operating temperature of +200 °C — long, +300−350 °C — short-term.

Alloy system Mg-Zn-Zr.
Doping with zirconium refines the grain, reduces the temperature interval of crystallization and, therefore, improves mechanical and casting properties. Lantana several additives increase the heat resistance, improve weldability, but lower strength and ductility at room temperature. ML15 alloy, optionally doped with lanthanum (0.6% to 1.2%), has high heat resistance, good weldability, has a low tendency to the formation of rihlat and hot cracks. Strength and ductility at room temperature is inferior to the alloy ML12.
Compared with the alloys of the system Mg-Al-Zn alloy has several advantages. It possess higher strength characteristics. Refinement of the structure with the introduction of Zirconia reduces the sensitivity of the alloy to the thickness of the cross section of the casting. Due to the smaller grain size in castings microregion less than in the casting of alloys МЛ4 or ML5.
